Notes from TED, 2 days later

in NYC and some perspective from my days at TED 2010:

-Chris’s tweet about the ‘god awful’ Sarah Silverman (since deleted) made it all real for me: honest, personal, transparent and somewhat re-considered = digital life today.

-Bill Gates: we have 25 years re: climate change and it’s time to get the energy options cooking, so to speak (get used to nuclear)

-and meanwhile, quick plug for Kohlberg Ventures portfolio company (and Halogen client, and TED sponsor), ClearEdge Power. We need to get to the ultimate renewable future and Jim’s company can help us get us there.

-chefs (from a wanna be chef) know that: food kills u, or not. Watch Jamie.

-Peter Gabriel stopped by our dinner one night, and it was 2 days later while on treadmill watching Sundance Channel that I remembered he wrote and sang “Biko” and founded the Elders with Richard Branson and others (including Jeff Skoll, one of the original backers of Cindy’s first non-profit).

-Sergey gave me a free phone, I gave it to my daughter, and she didn’t really want it - Steve, you keep ruling.

-that crazy, ebullient cartoonist “kid” from India reminded me that, as a parent, nurturing wonderful talent is hard and maybe the greatest accomplishment of all time.
